Inspect Before You File
We inspect your property at no cost, show you all the photos and explain whether the damage appears sufficient to justify opening a claim.
Review & Document the Damage
The results of the inspection are reviewed by three team members so no damage or building code is missed. We then send photographs, measurements, and a detailed written report for your adjuster to review.
We Meet With Your Adjuster On Site
A Horizon representative can attend the inspection and clearly present the documented damage.
Direct Insurance Communication and Follow Through
We communicate with your insurer, review the approved scope, and help address omitted damage or required code items.
Nothing Starts Until You Are Ready
We do not begin construction until the claim scope is settled, the work has been explained, and you have authorized us to proceed.
What to Know Before You Hire
Your roof, siding, and gutters protect your home. The right contractor should understand materials, flashing, ventilation, water management, and how the exterior performs as one system. Ask these four questions before you sign a contract.
How much roofing and siding work have you completed recently?
Ask about projects from the last 12 months—not only a lifetime total—and look for experience with the service and materials your home needs.
Are you trained or certified for the products you install?
Manufacturer requirements vary by roofing and siding system. Ask what training the crew has and how the installation affects product and workmanship warranties.
Can I see your license and certificate of insurance?
Verify current licensing, general liability, and workers’ compensation coverage before work begins.
Can I speak with recent local customers?
Ask for nearby roofing or siding projects similar to yours. Then review the finished work, or at least read reviews for the type of work you need.
Strong roofing reviews do not automatically prove siding expertise, and vice versa. Look for recent projects that match your materials, home style, and scope.
Get a professional inspection before making a major decision.
Roof and siding problems often overlap, and visible damage may not reveal the full cause. Ask for photos and a written scope so you can compare recommendations and understand any insurance-related next steps.
We pass our own checklist.
- Roofing & siding experience across major systems
- Licensed, bonded & insured in Illinois
- Local team serving Chicagoland
- Clear written scopes & project documentation
- Workmanship & manufacturer warranty guidance

Insurance Claim Replacement
Your contractor needs to speak the same language as your adjuster. We have handled hundreds of insurance claim roof replacements across Chicagoland and know exactly what adjusters look for and how to present damage so nothing gets overlooked.
Building codes vary by town, and those details can affect whether an insurance claim is approved as a repair or a full roof replacement. That is why Horizon Restoration uses software to automatically pull the relevant roofing codes for the municipality where each home is located. We review those code requirements against the damage found on the roof, then use that information to build a complete, code-compliant scope for the insurance claim.
For example, Palatine has specific requirements for low-slope roofing: asphalt shingles are not permitted on roof slopes below 2:12, and slopes between 2:12 and 4:12 require double underlayment. Bolingbrook doesn’t have those low-slope requirements, but states ice barrier must run from the eave edge to a point 30 inches horizontally from the inside of the exterior wall. These local differences can change what work is covered by insurance companies to properly restore a storm-damaged roof.
If you are paying your deductible either way, your roof should be restored to the full code-compliant scope you legally qualify for, not limited to the smallest repair an insurance company initially approves. Horizon Restoration identifies the applicable local codes, documents what applies to your roof, and works with your adjuster to help get the proper scope approved from the beginning.

Overall great experience! Julius was fantastic to work with. He was very attentive to all the details and always there to answer questions and get the job done right. Whenever he said he would take care of something, he took care of it. The crew did a fantastic job and the workmanship was top notch. I can not believe how quickly they did a full replacement of our sheathing and roof shingles and still did a high quality job. They left the worksite spotlessly clean. We are getting lots of compliments from our neighbors on how good our roof looks. If you want your roof done right, go with this company.

Paul, thank you so much to you and your entire team for our beautiful new roof. We couldn't have made a better choice. Thank you for all your help with the insurance paperwork and for making the whole process so smooth. We highly recommend Chicago Horizon Restoration Roofing Company to anyone looking for quality work and outstanding service! Pamela & Steve

Horizon Restoration did an amazing job on my roof! Paul was fantastic to work with. Super responsive, most important he was honest and really cared about making sure everything was done right. He made what could have been a stressful process feel easy. The crew was fast, clean and very professional. I’m really happy with the result and would definitely recommend them.

Our sales specialist Ronny was awesome through the whole initial process and quoted me a very reasonable estimate to re-shingle garage roof and repair main roof shingles that blew off from heavy winds. The crew came and did an excellent job in one day and left the area clean as it was before. Will definitely use Horizon again and recommend them to everyone that needs any type of roofing work! -Ignacio

Our contact at Horizon Restoration was Art. He worked with our insurance company for over a year and a half to have our roof and siding replaced. The other persons behind the scenes at the office who were instrumental in assisting Art were Paul-Manager, Ruby-who was in charge of all correspondence, Jack-Install Manager who coordinated the crews for both the siding and roof, Claudio-On Site Roofing Manager and Mike-On Site Siding Manager. They worked seamlessly as a team and were always available when we had any questions or concerns. It is so nice to have Horizon Restoration going to bat for us. Especially Art whose experience and knowledge was so key in getting our insurance company to approve the replacement of our roof and siding. Our roof and siding look so nice we highly recommend Art and Horizon Restoration to anyone in need of their services. Thank you Art and Horizon for everything.
Storm, Hail & Wind Damage Roof Repair
Chicago storms do not give warnings. One minute it is calm, the next your roof is taking hits from hail, wind, or falling debris. Storm damage roof repair is our busiest service from late spring through fall.
Hail Damage
- Dents in gutters, vents, and flashing weakens seals and collect dirt over time
- Cracked granule surface on shingles exposes the underlayment to UV rays - shortens roof life
Storm Damage
- Cracked or broken tiles from falling branches
- Missing or lifted shingles
- Water stains on ceilings or in the attic
Wind Damage
- Lifted or torn-off shingles exposing underlayment
- Broken seal strips making shingles vulnerable
- Pulled flashing from walls, chimneys, and vents
Some damage is obvious. A lot of it hides in plain sight. Small hail hits can weaken shingles without cracking them, then leaks show up months later. That is why a proper inspection matters before you file anything with your insurance company. Our crew documents everything with photos and detailed reports.
Hail Damage Roof Repair
Hail does not always punch holes in your roof. Most of the time it leaves dents, cracks the granule surface, or bruises the material underneath. That damage shortens your roof’s life by years if you ignore it. We get more calls about hail damage than almost anything else.
- Full roof inspection documenting every impact point
- Replacing cracked or bruised shingles
- Checking flashing, vents, and gutters for dents
- Detailed property report for your insurance claim
The biggest mistake homeowners make is filing a claim before getting an independent inspection. You need someone on your side who knows what hail damage looks like in Chicago’s climate. Before you sign anything with your insurer, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners offers guidance on protecting your rights after a storm.
Wind Damage Roof Repair
Chicago gusts rip shingles clean off, peel back flashing, and expose your deck to the elements in minutes. The tricky part is that wind damage is not always obvious from the ground — the real problems are often along the ridge or edges where uplift pressure hits hardest.
- Lifts or tears off shingles, exposing underlayment
- Breaks seal strips, leaving shingles vulnerable
- Pulls flashing from walls, chimneys, and vents
- Loosens ridge caps along the peak of the roof
Most wind damage is covered by homeowner’s insurance. We handle wind damage claims in Chicago every week and document everything before you file so your adjuster sees the full scope.
