We inspect your property at no cost, show you all the photos and explain whether the damage appears sufficient to justify opening a claim.
The results of the inspection are reviewed by three team members to reduce the chance that damage or required code items are missed. We then send photographs, measurements, and a detailed written report for your adjuster to review.
A Horizon representative can attend the inspection and clearly present the documented damage.
We provide the photos, measurements and code information your insurer asks for, review the approved scope with you, and point out any damage or required code items that appear to be missing, so you can decide how to raise them with your insurer.
We do not begin construction until the claim scope is settled, the work has been explained, and you have authorized us to proceed.
Storm Damage & Insurance
When storm damage hits your home, the contractor you call first can make a major difference in the outcome. Horizon Restoration helps homeowners across the Chicago suburbs with roofing, siding, gutters, and windows after hail, wind, and severe weather.
Hail damage is tricky — often granule loss or bruising you can’t see from the ground — while wind shows up as lifted or missing shingles. When damage is severe enough, your policy may cover a full roof replacement instead of a patch job. Call before you file: it’s easier to get a claim right the first time than to appeal a denial.
A repair makes sense when the damage is limited — a few missing or cracked shingles, failed flashing or a single leak — and the rest of the roof still has life left. Replacement is usually the better call when the roof is near the end of its service life, damage is spread across several slopes, or the decking underneath has gone soft. Our free inspection documents what we find with photos and puts the recommendation in writing, whether that is a roof repair or a full roof replacement.
Most roof replacements take one to three days once work begins, depending on the size of the roof, the material and the weather. Tearing off multiple old layers or replacing damaged decking adds time, and specialty materials such as cedar shake or synthetic slate can take longer.
It depends on your policy and on whether the damage came from a covered event such as hail or wind — your insurance company makes that decision. What we can do is inspect your roof for free before you file, document the damage with photos, measurements and a written report, and have a Horizon representative at your adjuster’s inspection to walk through what we found.
